KARAKOÇMAKİNE

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions, from the quotation process and file formats to tooling and 3D scanning.

General

What services does Karakoç Makine offer?+

We offer plastic injection mold design and manufacturing, CNC machining, plastic injection molding, 3D printed prototypes, and 3D scanning and reverse engineering. We can take a project from concept to series production under one roof.

Where are you located, and which regions do you serve?+

Our workshop is located in Küçük Sanayi Sitesi, Bursa, Türkiye. We serve customers across Türkiye and abroad; file sharing and the entire quotation process can be handled remotely.

Do you only do series production, or do you also take on single-part jobs?+

Both are possible. We review requests for a single prototype, a small batch or series production, and we determine the most suitable method together based on quantity, material and application.

Quotes and Pricing

How can I request a quote?+

Fill in the quote form on our website and attach your technical drawing or 3D model, or contact us by phone, WhatsApp or email. We will get back to you after reviewing your files.

How is pricing determined?+

Pricing depends on the project: part geometry and size, material, tolerance and surface requirements, quantity, number of mold cavities and mold steel are among the key factors. For this reason we have no fixed price list; we prepare an individual quotation for each project.

What is the lead time?+

Lead time depends on the scope of work, part complexity, quantity and our current workload. We provide a firm, project-specific lead time together with our quotation.

Molds

I only have an idea or a sample. Can I still have a mold made?+

Yes. We can digitize a sample part through 3D scanning and provide design support for your idea. Before moving to tooling, we make the part production-ready and, if needed, validate it with a 3D printed prototype.

Do you start manufacturing before the mold design is approved?+

No. The mold design is shared with you, and manufacturing begins only after your approval. You are kept informed at every stage of the process.

Do you maintain or revise existing molds?+

After inspecting your mold, we assess the need for maintenance, repair or revision and advise you accordingly. Feasibility depends on the condition of the mold.

CNC

What kinds of parts can you CNC machine?+

We perform precision machining to technical drawings on our vertical CNC machining center. Suitability is assessed based on part dimensions, material and tolerance requirements. Simply send us your drawing.

Do I need to supply the material?+

Either option is possible. We can source the material or machine material supplied by you. We clarify this together during the quotation stage.

Injection Molding

Which plastic materials do you mold?+

We mold engineering and commodity plastics suited to the part's operating conditions, and we evaluate material selection together with you based on your requirements.

Is there a minimum order quantity?+

The minimum quantity depends on the project and the mold. Once you share your request, we propose the most suitable production plan.

3D Printing and Scanning

What is a 3D printed prototype used for?+

It lets you test a part's dimensions, form and fit quickly and at low cost before investing in a mold, helping you avoid later changes to the tooling.

How do 3D scanning and reverse engineering work?+

An existing part is captured with a 3D scanner and converted into a digital model. A production-ready CAD model is then built from this data, making it ideal for reproducing parts that have no drawings or are broken.

File Formats

Which file formats do you accept?+

We accept SolidWorks (.sldprt, .sldasm, .slddrw), AutoCAD (.dwg, .dxf), STEP (.step/.stp), IGES (.iges/.igs), Parasolid (.x_t/.x_b), STL, PDF and ZIP files. Each file can be up to 50 MB; you can also send multiple files as a ZIP archive.

What if I don't have a drawing?+

We can start from a hand sketch, a photo with dimensions or a sample part. From a sample, we can create the drawing ourselves through 3D scanning and reverse engineering.

Confidentiality / NDA

Are my files and designs kept confidential?+

Yes. All drawings, models and information you share are used solely for quotation and production purposes and are not shared with third parties.

Do you sign non-disclosure agreements (NDAs)?+

Yes. On request, we can sign an NDA before any files are shared.
